According to the Zen Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh, this is an effective means of developing mindfulness.

This does a short-long vibrate pattern -- if you wish, you can interpret this as the morse code for "A", as an abbreviation for "be awake".(b) It is now possible to turn the volume *real* soft. The bell now supports a dynamic range of 50dB, from the maximum volume to a just audible volume. This should never be too loud.
